Surgeon
Dr. Blumofe graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University and the University of Southern California School of Medicine with honors. She completed her General Surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. She is board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and an affiliate of the American Society for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She has been practicing general surgery and advanced laparoscopy in the Stateline area for seven years. Dr. Blumofe is seeing patients at the Beloit Clinic in Beloit, WI, at Northpointe Clinic in Roscoe,IL and at OSF-St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL.
Surgeon
Dr. Shayani completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California at Los Angeles and medical school at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He completed his General Surgery residency at George Washington University with an additional year of concentrated training in advanced laparoscopy. Dr. Shayani was the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center, where he practiced for over ten years. Dr. Shayani started performing gastric banding in 2001 making him one of the first surgeons in the United States to perform this procedure. He is board certified in General Surgery, a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Bariatric Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the Illinois Bariatric Society. Dr. Shayani is seeing patients at OSF-St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL.
Pulmonology, Internal Medicine and Critical Care
Dr. Patel has been with Beloit Memorial Hospital since 1992 and is a highly accomplished physician with board certifications in three areas of medicine- Internal Medicine, Pulmonology and Sleep Disorders. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and has a certificate of Special Qualifications in Critical Care Medicine. He will be an excellent resource for Healthy You Band patients in all areas of internal medicine.
Psychiatrist
Dr. Wilson is a graduate of Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada with a BA, BPHE and BEd degrees. After teaching special education for eleven years, Dr. Wilson attended medical school at the American University of the Caribbean, Montserrat, WI. She then completed her residency in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Wilson is board certified and a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Coordinator
Kim started her clinical experience in the ophthalmology department where she spent 15 years. She has been involved in the daily care of general surgery patients for the past two years, with a new focus on our Healthy You Band clients.
Registered Dietician
Karen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she received her degree in Nutrition Science. She has been a Registered Dietician for nine years and a member of the American Dietetic Association. Karen also has certifications in nutrition support and adult weight management.
Counselor
Karen is a graduate of Winona State University with a Master of Science in Counseling. She has practiced individual, group and family counseling for eleven years. Karen has specialized in the college age student population and focused on the treatment of eating disorders (including problems related to the treatment of obesity).
Nurse Practitioner
Cindy graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles with a Bachelors of Science degree in nursing and from Graceland University in Iowa with a Masters Degree in Nursing. Her 30 years of nursing experience includes maternal-child health, family practice, occupational health and surgery.
Psychotherapist/ Social Worker
Tracy is a graduate of Aurora University with a Master of Social Work. Her experience includes medical social work, individual and group psychotherapy, assisting psychiatrists/ prescribes with medical needs, and managing crisis intervention needs. Tracy's clinical interests include working with children, adolescents, and adults with various mood and anxiety disorders. She is also a member of Northpointe Health and Wellness, and enjoys supporting people in their efforts to stay fit and healthy.
